POMA RENOVATIO

Napa Valley, CA

Poma: the latin root for a fruit consisting of a fleshy enlarged receptacle and a tough central core containing the seeds.
Through the tough wood exterior of LH Interiors new building we see this core come alive in the newest repurposed vineyard barn in Napa Valley, CA. Incorporating glass and several large windows highlights the core elements in the space. Onyx, metal mesh, wood, bronze, fabrics and mosaic tiles provide the several textures necessary to resemble seeds of pome fruits along with the organic curvature in the walls and drop-down ceilings. Warm and cozy finishes on the first floor resemble the fleshy insides of fruits and as you promenade up the stairs within the core of the building you reach the rind with cool and robust finishes. The loft efficiency apartment is estranged entirely from the firm while also looking adjoined to the exterior of the whole building.
